CRISPY COUNTY HAM SLIDERS WITH PINEAPPLE HONEY BUTTER

Oooey Gooey melted cheese!

We think our country ham make quesos just more better… and is a festive addition to any grazing table.  Enjoy our recipe as is, or tweak to suit your fancy.  Whether game day, Cinco de Mayo or just suppertime, you’ll be sure to get ooohs and ahhhs with this crowd pleaser.

 

CRISPY COUNTY HAM SLIDERS WITH PINEAPPLE HONEY BUTTER

  • Makes 1 dozen sliders

    ½ lb. Rays country ham slices, cooked and diced
    ¾ cup unsalted butter, softened
    ½ cup cream cheese with veggies, softened
    2 tablespoons honey
    2 tablespoons favorite steak sauce (Worcestershire, 57, etc.)
    ½ cup crushed pineapple, drained well
    1 tablespoon dried chive (or 2 T fresh)
    1 cup canned fried onions, divided
    1 12-count Hawaiian dinner rolls
    butter pan spray

    Using a fork, smash the butter, cream cheese, honey and sauce together.  Fold in the pineapple, chives and ¼ cup of the fried onions.

    To cook:

    Preheat oven to 350F. 
    Slice tops from rolls horizontally in one whole piece and place aside.  Spread bottoms with the pineapple butter. Scatter with the diced ham. Cover with sliced roll top.  Spray with butter pan spray. 
    Cover with foil and bake about 12 minutes.  Remove foil, spray again, and scatter with remaining crumbled onions. Bake another 3-5 minutes until rolls and onions are golden brown.  (Watch closely so onions don’t burn.) Serve hot!

    Make ahead:  Make these rolls in the “box” package they come in. Slide back into the bag and stack in freezer.  Great to keep on hand for brunch or supper…  you never know when friends may drop by, or you just get a hankering yourself!
