RAY’S COUNTRY HAM BRAND LAUNCHED

  • 1 min read

MOUNT AIRY, NC, July 4, 2017. Ray Jr. and Susan, the children of Geneva and Ray Goad, announced the organization of a family company to establish a Ray’s Country Ham Brand. The product will be cured in the style featured for almost 50 years at the Ray’s Starlight Restaurant in Mt. Airy, NC, and, at Ray’s Kingburger and Sweet Sue Restaurants, for more than twenty years across the five Mid-Atlantic States in which Ray’s operated.

Just as Mt. Airy is known as the home of Andy Griffith and Mayberry USA, Ray’s Restaurants has always been known for featuring Home Cured Country Ham and made from scratch southern biscuits. Ray Jr. explained that the family had long recognized the significance of Ray’s being the very first to serve Country Ham and Sausage Biscuits in a fast food restaurant. However, the idea of doing something to preserve their Dad’s legacy for his descendants was sparked when his Son living on the West Coast met a stranger familair with the Ray Goad Story and asked him for Grandmother Goad’s biscuit recipe. “Susan and I want to do this primarily to continue to perpetuate the rich traditions of Ray’s and Carolina Country Ham for future generations.”

Initially, the Ray’s Country Ham Brand will be offered on Amazon Prime, with free two-day shipping for all orders. The Company also plans to establish a network of distributors that will make the Brand available in retail food stores in the five Mid-Atlantic States in which at one time Ray’s operated Restaurants.
