CRISPY COUNTRY HAM SLIDERS WITH PINEAPPLE HONEY BUTTER

  • 2 min read

Or course you can simply serve our ham tucked inside steamed or toasted sweet Hawaiian rolls for a quick appetizer, but we’re giving you a tasty option that is fast and easy too.

So… these are kinda messy and napkins need to be plentiful, but gosh are they so crispy buttery good! The sweetness of the pineapple butter is a great pairing with the savory ham.  Make a bunch because your game-watching friends will “rush” the table for more and MORE!

You can make ahead and keep in the freezer too so you can have on hand anytime.

CRISPY COUNTRY HAM SLIDERS WITH PINEAPPLE HONEY BUTTER

  • Makes 1 dozen sliders

½ lb. Rays country ham slices, cooked and diced
    ¾ cup unsalted butter, softened
½ cup cream cheese with veggies, softened
    2 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons favorite steak sauce (Worcestershire, 57, etc.)
½ cup crushed pineapple, drained well
1 tablespoon dried chive (or 2 T fresh)
1 cup canned fried onions, divided
    1 12-count Hawaiian dinner rolls
    butter pan spray

Using a fork, smash the butter, cream cheese, honey and sauce together.  Fold in the pineapple, chives and ¼ cup of the fried onions.

    To cook:

    Preheat oven to 350F.
Slice tops from rolls horizontally in one whole piece and place aside.  Spread bottoms with the pineapple butter. Scatter with the diced ham. Cover with sliced roll top.  Spray with butter pan spray.
Cover with foil and bake about 12 minutes.  Remove foil, spray again, and scatter with remaining crumbled onions. Bake another 3-5 minutes until rolls and onions are golden brown.  (Watch closely so onions don’t burn.) Serve hot!

Make ahead:  Make these rolls in the “box” package they come in. Slide back into the bag and stack in freezer.  Great to keep on hand for brunch or supper…  you never know when friends may drop by, or you just get a hankering yourself!
